Welcome to Tirmanmak Hiking Club
Tirmanmak is a Turkish word which means to walk in the mountains
A few friends and acquaintances who regularly went on excursions decided
in 1988 to start a more structured organization with a constitution. From
the onset the club attracted hikers from different shores: German, Swiss,
English, Canadian, Italian and Australian nationalities have been active
members since our inception.
We have a hiking program consisting of half-day, week-end and much longer
hikes. We alternate the day hikes between Saturdays and Sundays. We also
include other outdoor activities like canoeing as well as social events
such as a karaoke or dinner-quiz evening.
Anyone with a keen interest in the outdoors is welcome. In the past we
have had hikers as young as six and as old as seventy straggling along
with us. Our motto has always been to hike at the pace of the slowest
member.
We have quarterly meetings in the Pinelands library complex. We look forward
to meeting you soon.
