Popular Hikes:
Here are some some of the most popular hikes in the Cape Town area.

Helderberg
|
|
| |
This hike takes place in the Helderberg Nature
Reserve, near Somerset-West, and aside from the views, fresh air
and fynbos, also has picnic areas and animals, such as Bontebok.
We sometimes enjoy a picnic after the hike, and there are numerous
different hiking trails in this area. This hike is also popular
with families and children.

Silvermine
|
|
| |
This is an easy hike around the Silvermine
Nature Reserve. There are several different hiking routes in Silvermine,
and from here we can visit Elephant's Eye Cave, or walk to the other
side to Noordhoek Peak. This offers an incredible, postcard view
of Hout Bay.

Table Mountain - Skeleton Gorge
|
|
| |
We normally start this hike at Cecilia Forest,
from where we can hike though the beautiful forest and past streams.
From here on we arrive at Kirstenbosch, and onwards to the route
itself. Skeleton Gorge is a very enjoyable hike, as it features
ladders, and parts of the route is through boulders and the Skeleton
stream, while hiking in the peaceful shade of indigenous forest.
The route ends at the top, from where it is easy to continue hiking
around the dams, or down via Nursery Ravine.

Table Mountain - Nursery Ravine
|
|
| |
This hike is really good exercise, as it involves
hundreds of steps - we normally hike it from the top down! The sheer
cliff walls on the side are quite a sight, and also offer welcome
shade. Like Skeleton Gorge, we start this hike from Cecilia Forest,
and explore the top of the mountain afterwards.

Table Mountain - 3 Firs
|
|
| |
A quick, direct way to the top of the mountain.
Three Firs can be quite steep in places, and offers unusual views
of Slangolie ravine. At the top end of the route is an interesting
rock formation, called the "Saucy Dog".
The red line on the photo indicates the path!

Table Mountain - Kasteelspoort
|
|
| |
This is one of our most popular hikes on the
Western Side of Table Mountain. We normally start it from Camp's
Bay, joining up to the Pipe Track until we reach the start of the
Kasteelspoort Route. From here the route heads up, offering incredible
views of the Camp's Bay beaches, and ocean below. There is some
mild rock scrambling required in a few places.

|

Lion's Head
|
|
| |
Lion's Head is a short, though interesting
hike. The route spirals around the side of the mountain until it
reaches the top. From here there is a 360 view of the city, mountains,
and ocean. More adventurous hikers can choose to decend via the
vertical chains, or continue down the path.

Kleinplaas Dam
|
|
| |
This is an easy hike on a gentle gradient,
in the mountains above Fish Hoek. There are a couple of dams, and
interesting Fynbos species to see.
